The Quake
The first issue of The Quake has premiered in April 2011, edited by ILYM member Zoe Rei. The April's issue theme is "How I Know and Follow My Faith." Young Adult Friends (YAFs) from the US, Britain and El Salvador responded to it's query. Also, in this issue, Friends are introduced to the many departments such as Dear Maggie, the Bible book nook, Interview, the book review and the Friendly Funny to name a few.
The theme for the May issue will be committees. Committees are central to the structure of Friends. As YAFs speak to their experiences of committees, "The Question" will be approached and hopefully answers will be presented that can begin to be put in place to demystify "The Question" in relation to "How do we get young Friends involved?" and "How do we nurture young Friends?"
While The Quake supports the voices of YAFs through it's main feature "YAF Words", it is for everyone. It is a building block for supporting inter-generational community. It is a great resource for monthly meetings to have on hand for that wandering visitor, their YAF that is either in town, out of town, in transition and all Friends who are curious and looking for another source of inspiration and nourishment. The Quake is a monthly magazine available in both paper and pixels (email). Some Friends have expressed an interest in giving subscriptions to Friends in Africa and other parts of the world.
